Ever wondered what secrets lie beneath the cobbled streets and bustling colleges of Cambridge? Well, you're in for a treat!...

Welcome to Benet Street, one of the most atmospheric corners of Cambridge. This is where ancient history, academic tradition, and lingering ghost stories gather within a few metres of each other. On our Cambridge tour, this stop delivers age, intrigue, and just a touch of supernatural discomfort.

At the heart of Benet Street stands St Bene't's Church, the oldest surviving building in Cambridge. Its Anglo-Saxon tower dates back to the 11th century, making it older than the university itself.
It has survived fire, reformations, civil war, religious upheaval, and centuries of whispered stories. When you stand beneath that tower, you are looking at stone that has witnessed nearly a thousand years of human drama.
You can learn more about the church here: St Bene't's Church official page.

Directly opposite sits The Eagle , one of Cambridge’s most famous pubs.
Known for its excellent food, lively atmosphere, and deep connections to university history, it is a proper historic pub that delivers both quality and character. It is the kind of place where you can settle in for a pint and feel surrounded by stories.
But alongside its reputation as a fantastic place to eat and drink, The Eagle carries a stranger legend.
According to local lore, a specific window in the pub must always remain open. The reason is unusual.
When the window is shut, customers have reported a sudden suffocating feeling, as though the air itself has thickened. Some say it feels like something unseen is trapped inside with them.
Whether you believe in ghosts or not, the story has endured. And in a street that has stood for a millennium, endurance counts for something.
On our guided walk, Benet Street becomes more than just a pretty historic lane. We place it in context, from Anglo-Saxon survival to academic ambition and the city’s darker undercurrents.
Expect ancient stones, university legends, ghostly discomfort, and our signature dark humour woven throughout.
Ready to join us?
Care for a drink after the tour? Just remember to leave the window open.
